OK, you’ve written a great book but no-one has bought it yet? How do you get people to see your work of art? Below are lots of simple, free ways to promote your book.

  1. Tweet about it
  2. Ask your readers to send in images of them with your book and then share them on social media
  3. Comment on threads in Facebook groups or on other people’s threads to build your reputation as an expert in the field of writing
  4. Write a press release – use free sites to send it out
  5. Do a presentation to a local writers group
  6. Do a KDP free promotion
  7. Post some free content or excerpts from your book on different websites / blogs
  8. Give a talk at a local school
  9. Send an email to your list. Give them a reason to buy a book
  10. Get more reviews!
  11. Write a guest post for a blog and include a link to your book
  12. Create a bunch of 99p books that are full of quality
  13. Put a link to your book in your email signature
  14. Consider NOT enabling the ‘Digital Rights Management’ (DRM) option in your KDP dashboard. Yes you’ll allow your book to be given away on free sites but more people will find out about you
  15. Run a big charity fundraiser so that for every book sold over a certain timeframe you give all or part of the profits to a charity of your choice
  16. Run a contest or a giveaway for your book from your website
  17. Get your book translated into one of the widely spoken languages like Spanish or German to increase your sales reach
  18. Put something inside your book that encourages people to sign up for your email list. You then have a list to promote your next book to!
  19. Start a Goodreads group for your book or vote in a list
  20. If you have a WordPress blog, use widgets to rotate your book on your sidebar
  21. Use discussion forums
  22. Do a book signing the traditional way – arrange this with a local book store or library
  23. Book a table at a book fair or craft fair
